Carlean Gilbert is Associate Professor in the School of Social Work at Loyola University in Chicago. She is editor of The Clinical Supervisor, the premier journal on clinical supervision in the behavioral health field and a member of the Editorial Board of Social Work in Health Care.
Her current scholarship concentrates on clinical supervision in health and mental health settings. She has published numerous articles and frequently presented papers at national and international conferences on these topics. Other areas of scholarship include children’s health, group treatment, and spirituality and religion in social work practice.
Her academic career was preceded by 17 years of practice as a pediatric social worker at Duke University and The University of North Carolina Health Systems and as coordinator of social work research at UCLA Medical Center. Dr. Gilbert is co-chair of the health track for the Council of Social Work Education, a member of the Board of Directors for the Society for Social Work Leadership in Health Care, and member of the National Case Management Board.
